Draft a complete Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) submission package for [CLIENT_NAME] under IRPA s.11 + IRPR R179. The package must satisfy the officer at IRCC's CPC-Ottawa (online TRV processing centre) that:
(a) The visit purpose is genuine and time-limited
(b) The applicant has means to support themselves
(c) The applicant will leave Canada by [INTENDED_DEPARTURE]
CLIENT SNAPSHOT
- Name: [CLIENT_NAME] (DOB: [CLIENT_DOB])
- Passport: [PASSPORT_NUMBER] (expires [PASSPORT_EXPIRY])
- Purpose: [PURPOSE_OF_VISIT]
- Travel: [INTENDED_ARRIVAL] to [INTENDED_DEPARTURE]
- Funds: CAD [PROOF_OF_FUNDS_CAD] — source: [FUNDING_SOURCE]
- Ties: [TIES_NARRATIVE]
- Inviter: N/A
- Representative: [REPRESENTATIVE]
§1 — SUBMISSION ROUTE
Online via IRCC Secure Account at canada.ca (preferred — faster, biometrics
instructions emailed within 24-48 hrs). Paper to the responsible Visa
Application Centre is available but adds 2-4 weeks. Use online unless the
applicant has technical barriers.
§2 — IMM 5257 — APPLICATION FOR TRV (current version)
Complete EVERY field. The IMM 5257 has three load-bearing question blocks
where Indian applicants most often slip:
Q.1 — Personal details
- Name exactly as in passport (no expansion of initials, no anglicisation)
- Marital status — current status only; "married — separated" if applicable
- Indigenous language fields — not applicable for Indian applicants
Q.2 — Background information (THE DISCLOSURE BLOCK)
- Q.2(a) — TB or other serious disease — disclose all past treatment with
dates and clearance certificate
- Q.2(b) — Prior refusal / refused entry / removed from Canada or any
country — DISCLOSE ALL with dates and refusal letter copies
- Q.2(c) — Prior immigration application to Canada — disclose all UCIs
- Q.2(d) — Criminal offence in any country — disclose with FIR, charge
sheet, court order, sentence served
- Q.2(e) — Military / paramilitary / police service — disclose dates,
rank, unit (even mandatory conscript service)
- Q.2(f) — Government position — disclose if applicable
CRITICAL: Concealment of any Q.2 item triggers IRPA s.40 misrepresentation
finding = 5-year inadmissibility + 5-year application bar. There is no
"benefit of the doubt" once GCMS records cross-match other databases.
Q.3 — Details of visit
- Purpose: use [PURPOSE_OF_VISIT] verbatim
- From / to dates: [INTENDED_ARRIVAL] / [INTENDED_DEPARTURE]
- Funds available: CAD [PROOF_OF_FUNDS_CAD]
- Name + address of inviter / host in Canada: N/A
- Single-entry vs multiple-entry — request MULTIPLE ENTRY (default for
most TRVs since 2014; valid up to passport expiry or 10 years)
Q.4 — Education and employment (last 10 years, no gaps)
- Each row: month/year start - month/year end - position/program - employer/
institution - location
- Fill UNEMPLOYED / STUDYING / HOMEMAKER for gaps — do not leave blank
Q.5 — Travel history (last 10 years)
- All countries visited with dates
- Match passport stamps exactly
- If passport renewed, retrieve prior passport for stamp record
§3 — IMM 5645 — FAMILY INFORMATION
Required for every TRV applicant. List EVERY family member regardless of
travel intent:
- Spouse / common-law partner / former spouse(s)
- Mother + father (even if deceased — note date of death)
- All siblings (full, half, step) — even estranged
- All children (biological, adopted, step) — even non-accompanying
Each row: name, DOB, country of birth, current address, current status.
If a sibling or family member is already in Canada (PR, citizen, work permit,
study permit, refugee claimant, removal order) — disclose status accurately.
Officers cross-check this against GCMS.
§4 — IMM 5409 (CONDITIONAL)
Required only if applicant is in a common-law relationship (12+ months
cohabitation, not legally married). Both partners sign + statutory
declaration before a Notary Public / Commissioner of Oaths.
For [CLIENT_NAME], include IMM 5409 only if applicable. Otherwise omit.

ATIP (separate prompt: ca-visitor-refusal-recovery).
§10 — POST-ISSUANCE — POE INTERVIEW PREP
Brief paragraph: TRV is permission to BOARD a flight to Canada. CBSA officer

- Length of stay?
- Where will you stay?
- Who is hosting you?
- Show return ticket, funds, invitation letter
- Show this cover letter copy
Carry physical copies. Be specific and brief. Do not volunteer extra.
End with: "DRAFT TRV application package — for RCIC review and tailoring.
Verify current IMM 5257 form revision date, current TRV + biometrics fee
schedule (2026-05 — verify current IRCC fee schedule), and the responsible
visa office's recent processing time before client submission. The cover
letter and ties narrative carry the file; weak ties is the #1 R179
refusal ground from Indian visa offices."Unlock the vault to see the full prompt
